Four years ago I started the search for my 4th purchase of a condo in Palm Springs. Spanning the last 40 years, I have been a Palm Springs aficionado. I just love the village quality and to me, Palm Springs says it all… unless you are talking about my hometown mountain village of Wrightwood, a different climate and atmosphere but certainly complimentary to what we find in “The Springs.”

So down to PS I come and tie in with one of several broker/agents through time. I was criss-crossing the country from 1998 through the present date, only able to be home in Wrightwood occasionally. So it was a hit or miss proposition, getting down to look at property. I wasn’t satisfied with the second of the brokers who was “helping” me find my “Palm Springs 4 Me,” and as I drove into the valley one Monday morning last November to take care of some other business, I picked up the Desert Sun and quickly surveyed the ads, spotting a little charmer that turned out to be too far out (for me, anything beyond a mile from Tahquitz and Palm Canyon is far out).

BUT at that condo is where I met Gene Hernandez, the all-time great real estate agent and caring, I SAID CARING, fella who has stayed with me through thick and thin, from November till today, making sure I got the right place, at the right deal, and making sure that all the aches and pains of real estate exchanges (on my end) got taken care of and my little corner of Palm Springs became a reality.

Gene has my strongest endorsement! This comes from a retired community newspaper publisher, a 13 year elected board member (high school and community college), a real estate developer of some 20 parcels through time, and a retired Naval Reserve Captain.

Oh, and he’s one heck of a good guy to boot!

I would like to say my wife and I had been looking for a reasonably priced home in the area and Gene was persistent in finding a piece of property for us , he was quite diligent in making sure we had all the paperwork finished and back to us . even though his commission was lower than usual due to having to deal with foreclosed properties and dealing with the banks , his service was personable and pleasant he is a good guy.
